Interior Painting Guidelines: Geneva & Lausanne

Painting the interiors around the house or your office means some prep work will be required in the process. Ceiling spaces can be a bit more challenging, but you can still do it fairly easily. Interior decorating can sometimes depend on a good painting job done around your home just as much as other smaller elements. The following preparations will help get you off to a great start:

  • Begin your work by checking the walls and making sure you clean them up as part of your preparations for the coming painting project. With dust and grime often getting in the way means this will make the job a lot harder than it needs to be. You will need to make things work from the beginning, so this means you need a pristine clean surface if you want to have some really good results. A soft sponge, hot soapy water and a bit of work and you will have them dried out completely.
  • The next step you will need to take is covering your floors in some plastic sheeting to protect them from paint drips. You can make use of fabric in certain cases, but the paint may sink right through if it happens to be thin so plastic sheets are the safer bet. The last thing you really want is to have to deal with messy floors after the job, so make sure you avoid that entirely.
  • Cover all the door frames of your home, as well as the windows and trimming, protecting them from dripping paint on the walls and ceiling of your home. You can work on removing the tape as soon as you complete the paint job, but before your paint is dry or you can peel it off from the wall by accident.
  • After this step is complete you will need to prime the walls so your paint coverage can be a lot more efficient once the job is done. According to the professionals house cleaners from Cleaners Kentish Town Ltd this will help keep them in a uniform colour so you can have a steady hue all throughout the job without any areas that could end up peeling later on.
  • Use a roller to paint most flat surfaces, such as the walls for faster cover and a much more efficient solution. You will still need to use angled brushes and other types of brushes for the finer work, but with a good roller you can get a lot done without it becoming too annoying to deal with.
  • You would do well to work by laying down a W-shaped set of patterns as you work on painting. This will let you cover the walls with almost no streaking in the process. It will take you a decent amount of work to deal with all of this but it will be far easier to complete than going up and down.
